Ruma Devi Early Career
Ruma Devi was born in the year 1988 in Ravsar, a small village in Barmer district of Rajasthan. Her mother left the world when she was 4 years old. Ruma Devi studied till 8th grade and after that she left school.
Ruma Devi took care of the responsibilities of the house at a very young age. She used to learn embroidery work by sitting with her grandmother. Ruma Devi got married at the age of just 17 and after 2 years of marriage, they had their first child. The child had respiratory disease, but due to poverty, Ruma Devi could not get the child treated and died.
After losing the child, Ruma Devi broke down completely and became a master. He thought that due to no work, he gets bad ideas, so he decided that he should start doing some work so that the time of thinking of all this is given the name and he can also earn money.
They do not have a degree, they are not well educated, they will not give them any work and they can get work only for daily wages. Then he got the idea that as a child he had learned the work of embroidery from his grandmother and he started doing the same work.
Ruma Devi did not have a sewing machine, so there was a problem in working, then she talked to the women of the neighborhood and formed a group. All together collected 100 rupees and bought a machine.
There were 10 women in his group but they did not have much work, so they started looking for work. He made bags and started selling them, due to which he used to hear taunts from the family but he never gave up and stood still.

Ruma Devi was making products with her group, but they were not able to sell more of their products. Then he came to know about the Rural Development Consciousness Institute, which is working for the empowerment of women and is trying to give employment opportunities to women.
Ruma Devi and some women of her group went to this institute together. The founder of this institution, Vikram Singh, praised him and also gave him work.

Ruma Devi got the idea that she should add more women with her who wants to do work but they do not have work. She went to different villages with her group and talked to the women and their families.
He connected many women with him and promised to get them working from home. Today, more than 22000 women are associated with him and are running his family with his skills .

Many women had joined Ruma Devi’s group and started producing more products. Then he thought of exhibiting to increase the sales of his product. He participated in an exhibition in Delhi for the first time and his product was well liked and sold by the people there.
She also participated in the fashion show held at Rajasthan Heritage Week and in this fashion show, big designers praised her product. After this, she did fashion shows in a separate state of the country and also won the title of Designer of the Year.
