Afsana was born in a lower-middle-class Muslim family in village Badal, Sri Muktsar Sahib.
His family is from music background. Afsana’s grandfather and father were also singers.
Her father passed away when Afsana was very young.
Afsana started singing at a very young age to financially support her family.
